Good morning party people!
It’s been awhile, and I’m sorry that I haven’t been able to make much forward progress on the restructure in that time!
However I do have a couple massive updates that I’ve implemented as of today- which I’ve been working on almost nonstop for two weeks!
MAKE SURE TO READ TO THE BOTTOM FOR A REALLY SPECIAL UPDATE!
Update 1:
Updated 2025 Price Sheets!
This one may come as a surprise: I just updated my pricing in January.
But unfortunately, the fact is that I actually was only able to HALF update my pricing;
Every year I try to update my prices once in January and once in June/July.
With the update comes new price sheets, that usually have new formats, new branding and new prices- As a small business everything I do is constantly growing and evolving and I like to make sure to have price sheets that reflect that.
However in January, I just didn’t have the time to do the FULL revision, between my house flooding twice, overwhelming myself with the planning for this restructure, AND starting my new meds- so instead I had to rush it.
The new prices are LIVE, in the same place they always are: My Commission Pricing page.
The changes I’ve made are as follows:
1: Updated Visuals
I’ve created a clean visual presentation that shows the prices along with an exact example of what artwork in that price bracket looks like: I had this previously in 2022-2023, but foolishly scrapped it in 2024 and I’ve been discontent with that fact ever since.
Along with this, I’ve FINALLY added a section that gives similar examples for what BACKGROUND tiers look like, so what you’re ordering is more clear from the jump and you don’t HAVE to ask me to send you samples to know what a background tier means.
I’ve once again separated Fine Art into its own section, but this was more done for consistency in presentation, I do still consider it to be the high tier for Figure art.
I’ve also updated the price sheets to include examples for certain add-ons that I previously didn’t provide visual examples for- which should make understanding those add-ons a little easier.
2: Price Updates: Logo Design
My logo design prices, as well as how I deal with them, have been a problem for a long time. I won’t get into why I felt they were a problem, but I finally took the time to really break down Logo design, and provide a wide variety of examples.
In the past, Logo design was its own separate thing, however I am now pricing them based on the Text Design portion and the Graphic portion- and the Graphic now correlates to the same prices as a Half Body Figure.
On top of this, in the past, logo prices incorporated the Basic commercial license, and still required you to upgrade to the Commercial Plus license to be able to copyright the logo. Unfortunately many people who order logos don’t do the upgrade, which REALLY screws them over- I get that a lot of small businesses just don’t have the funds usually to hit up the copyright office and drop $500 on a registered © or ™, but me treating it like an UPGRADE they can get instead of something they NEED to be able to protect their brand and IP was a disservice I was doing to everyone who ordered a Logo for their small business.
So as of today, the new pricing is calculated for logos incoporating a Commercial Plus license, which now ALSO comes with a Waiver of Rights from me, that will tell the Copyright Office that YOU are the owner and only person allowed to copyright your logo.
3: Commission Packages
I had experimented with Commission Packages in the past, around 2021-2022, but it didn’t really go that well- and after completing around 250 commissions since 2022, I have realized what the problem was;
Lack of variety in presentation.
And that probably sounds asinine to hear, but when I tried it before all of my packages were at least $150, and they weren’t aimed at clarity so much as bundling things to give a discount so people could more readily afford my MOST EXPENSIVE commissions;
But a package that’s out of budget doesn’t help you.
As of today with these new price sheets I’ve also released a total of 12 new packages- they aren’t discounts, but they’re made to streamline the commission process so all you have to do is point at a package and say “That’s what I want”
Packages include my simple Character Design setup, as well as things like Line Art Portraits, and a variety of other more affordable commissions that are commonly ordered by clients, and the new packages show you exampes of completed commissions that you can get for as as low as $35- while also making it more clear what you get when you request something like a “Two Figure Line Art with No Background” or a “Fine Art illustration with Detailed Background”
And for pricing, that basically covers it all!
Update 2:
GRAND OPENING! Ash Something’s Official Printify Storefront!
The new storefront will also be added to the home page soon, but for now you’ll just need to check it out above.
BUT THIS IS A GRAND OPENING!
So you also gotta know that as of today, and going until May 15, you get 15% off all merch and prints on the new shop, so DEFINITELY go check it out!
However that’s only the first in a small list of big updates about how I do merch, so let me break it down:
1: Why Printify?
To be short and sweet- Unlike other platforms, I can sell NSFW/Erotic/Etc art of Printify because Printify is disconnected from my business. They DO have a TOS I have to follow, but unlike Redbubble and other such sites, I am not being hosted on a “Catch All” store full of every other seller on Printify- meaning when you search my shop, ONLY my art pops up. I am hosting as MY OWN business, and MY OWN shop, and they are JUST doing Fulfillment.
This differs massively from Redbubble, where it’s more like Etsy and you go there to search EVERY shop on their platform, and the shops are all presented right on the Redbubble-Branded web pages- which means in short I am not being held responsible for making sure Printify “looks good” in the eyes of some unspecified Public that they think is going to judge them for displaying a t-shirt by a random artist who just really like Hentai.
But it ALSO means that I’m not beholden to Redbubble’s exorbitant prices anymore.
Previously, to make any real profit on Redbubble I had to keep prices on things like TShirts at around $30-35- but on Printify you can get the same shirts in the same quality of printing for $20.
And ditto on Art Prints, which now start at $12.50 instead of around $18-20 on the new shop.
2: Changes to Ash Something’s Merch
This one is a bit of a misnomer- because it implies Ash Something will be doing merch going forward- it won’t.
But that doesn’t mean you won’t be able to get merch BY Ash Something.
What the hell does that mean?
Well, Ash Something Art is my endeavor to work towards a specific form of fine art, and I put a lot of effort into that- but Ash Something Art is also my brand, and as a brand over the last few years it’s become increasingly chaotic with an insane variety of designs on my shops that all clashed with each other.
Over the last few months I’ve been in the process of revising how I deal with my art as it’s completed and what I want to present and how- and here’s what I’ve landed on;
Ash Something Art is being redirected to being focused on Art Prints- this means that my Ash Something Art shop/brand will predominantly revolve around that. I’ll be expanding the shop over the next few months to put more and more stuff on there- updating a lot of older art and creating newer art- as well as finishing projects that I’ve wanted to complete and sell as posters and fine art prints- and getting it ALL onto the shop.
But the cartoony/clownly/kitschy/garish merch designs that all seem a bit inane and clash with all of that art stuff won’t be vanishing! I love making them and a lot of what’s kept me from doing it is that I felt like they clogged up my shop while I WANTED to have a dedicated space for the FINE ART side of my work.
Instead, all of what was previously known as my Ash Something Official merch is being rebranded, and transferred over to the upcoming home shop of my Lifestyle Clown, The Ubiquitous Dr Strangelove.
I’m still currently in the process of getting a LOT of that set up, but that’s right- I’m opening a brand SPECIFICALLY for the clown art and crappy merch that I love making, under the banner of my lifestyle clown persona.
This means that I will be removing those items from the Ash Something Art shop soon and putting them onto another but both will be accessible right here on the website- as well as:
Hof Lokabrenna.
For a long time I’ve felt weird about mixing my Lokean/Pagan/Religious art with Ash Something Art, mostly because a lot of people who come to me are looking for specific stuff- usually pinups or clowns. And I mean, I do good work with those things, so I want to present those as my primary work.
But at the same time, I am DEVOUTLY Pagan and Lokean, and those things hold a REALLY special place to me- and I’ve honestly just felt like that hesitance to mix my religious art with Ash Something Art has grown as time goes on.
Now, don’t get me wrong- I’m not referring to things like the Tarot deck or the Rune Deck I’m currently working on- although they have me thinking about this a lot- but silly merch designs and doodles that I do that I just usually feel like I can’t show people.
But with my decision recently to start working on USING my Priesthood, I have also decided to open a third brand, SPECIFICALLY for Pagan (predominantly Lokean) art and designs- and that is Hof Lokabrenna.
Again, this shop is not up and running yet, but I have a handful of designs ready to go and after the 15th I will be taking both The Ubiquitous Dr Strangelove AND the Hof Lokabrenna brands live.
That’s all for now! Just the two very massive updates! More to come soon, but for the next couple weeks I have to put everything else aside and focus as much as I can on completing commissions! Love you all, and thank you all so much for your patience! In the meantime, please consider subscribing or ordering a commission!
