Ash Something
I started my journey as a multidisciplinary artist back in 1998, at the age of 9. The decision to be an artist started with a lot of small seeds; Seeing my father design tattoos for himself, seeing the artwork of Patrick Nagel in my friends’ houses and on salon windows, finding my first issue of Heavy Metal Magazine, and discovering anime and comics around the same time. No singular thing led me to start, but it art has been a lifelong pursuit ever since I did.
Formally trained thoughought the ages of 9 to 21, with the AP Art program in high school, Saturday High classes at Art Center College of Design, and the Art and Graphic Design degree programs at LA MIssion College, where I dropped out in 2009 after taking every art and design class they offered. I have always viewed art as a learning experience and have continued to study and practice daily since 2009, while taking jobs in every art and design field imaginable.
Artist Statement
I have a nearly 30-year history with art under my belt. I started working professionally as a freelancer in 2007 and continued to grow and evolve until art eventually became my sole focus in 2021.
Throughout my time as an artist I’ve had a lot of dreams, goals, and aspirations, and many inluences and inspirations. I’ve worked in every field from performance to graphic design, fine art, video editing, photography, concept design, comic books, illustration publication, and animation.
Between 2020 and today, I have been working on developing a plan of action and a direction for my art, and I believe I finally have that.
I am a multidisciplinary pinup and erotic artist, with a focus on Dark Fantasy Pin-up and erotic art, and poster art print publication.
My intent as an artist is to promote sex-positivity and explore gender- and body-euphoria, through high detail and fully rendered fine art which bridges the gap between the vintage 80s and modern stylings that I have come to love, mixing anime and manga, western comic art, art deco, art nouveaux, and a variety of other styles into my own cohesive Pulp style.
My goal is to explore everything from human sexuality through fetish and BDSM, to pagan religion and the occult, while integrating themes of dark fantasy and circus arts, while attempting to change the idea of what is considered to be an “Idealized figure” in art, so to showcase figures of all genders, races, and body types to empower my myself and my audience as a whole.
