Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Commission?

A commission is a direct purchase of my Art Service- you send me whatever request and details you have for an artwork, and I do it for you. How you can use a commission once you recieve he finished piece is depended on the License you purchase with the art, as outlined in my Terms of Service – but the content can be just about anything you want with some minor limits.

Do you take Commissions?

Yes. If you want a commission, you can check out my Order Form on Ko-Fi, or see my prices here and send me an email. I’m currently working on getting an order page set up here on the website so you can just click a commission package and go, but at the moment, just shoot me an email or drop me a DM over Discord, Bluesky, Facebook or Instagram to get your order set up!

How does ordering a commission work?

Well, you can order a commission in two ways. You can either click the image link above, which will take you to my Ko-Fi page, and then select which commission tier and add-ons you want, OR you can send me an email or DM on one of my socials to outline what you want me to create for you. In the event of going through Ko-Fi the process is incredibly streamlined and it allows you to select your options, as well as provide me your description and any references you think I may need for the project- and then you pay right there.
In the case of a direct commission order, it’s a little less streamlined. You need to email/message me what you want drawn, then I’ll discuss it with you and ask some questions. After which, I’ll provide you a quote along with an ETA for when you would get the piece if you order.
After that, payment can be accepted in a few different ways.
In either instance once you submit payment, you will be added to my Waitlist, and I’ll give you intermittent updates on your place in line until your project is up.
Once you are on my table, I will go through the drawing sending you updates starting with the rough sketch, giving you opportunities to request revisions, and so on, until the project is done and we’re both happy with it!
Once the art is approved by you, I will email the final images to you, and move on to the next person on my Queue

Why do you use Ko-Fi for commissions?

If I’m honest it’s because the capabilities of my website don’t yet meet my needs as far as order forms are concerned! I’m hoping that by the end of 2025 I can change this, but I may not be able to until well into 2026.
However, even if I do manage to integrate a similar order form here on the website, I think I’ll still keep the Ko-Fi page open.
The platform is almost perfect and gives me more or less every option I need.

Do I have to order the commission via Ko-Fi?

No, but it does streamline the process for you and make things WAY easier for us both. If you would prefer a direct commission, you can drop me a message on any messenger app you’re following me on, or send me an email at info@ashsomething.art

What About My VIP Funpass Discount?

This is why I said ALMOST perfect; Unfortunately if you have subscribed to the VIP Funpass here through the website, Ko-Fi can’t register you as a VIP Funpass member and offer you he discount.
For this reason, I have also added a secondary VIP Funpass method directly through Ko-Fi, and if you’re signed up there your discount will show in Ko-Fi.
If you would rather stay here than switch platforms- which I prefer- just drop me a commission request directly via my email at info@ashsomething.art

I want to use the art I commission from you commercially, is that allowed?

Yes and No. Yes, but only if you purchase a commercial license WITH the art.
If you do not purchase a commercial license, or are not granted one because of the parameters of your commission, then no.

Here are the details of the Licenses I offer, and if you want to know more about Licensing and the IP and Copyright laws and the guidelines I adhere to within them, please see sections VII.I. COPYRIGHT & USAGE POLICY (Overview), as well as VII.III. LICENSING WORK FROM ASH SOMETHING ART and X. DELIVERY AND WHAT YOU RECEIVE in my Terms of Service

It’s also important to note, however, that you are granted the ASA-BC License, also known as the Basic Commercial License, with any artwork whose total price is at least $100 after any discounts (and before any license costs)

Do you take requests?

Only during special events called “For The Fans Sketch Requests.” These requests are only available on the social media I post about it on, only run for a day, and the final works are always 5-10 minute long pencil sketches.

I run these events as a means to keep myself active and drawing, and to give myself things to do in-between commissions that don’t take as much mental bandwidth: However outside of these rare events, I do not take requests, as the average artwork that has been requested in the past have been works that take 5-10 hours. Those people abused the privilege, and therefore I no longer do that kind of work for free, even with my closest friends.

Do you do Art Trades?

No. I would love to have the time and energy to do this, as I have a lot of friends who are wonderful artists that I would love to trade with. Unfortunately, though, until I get my VIP Funpass Membership to a point where my monthly income covers my basic needs, I am basically living commission-to-commission, and rarely have time to do anything like that.

Do you do Furry art?

Yes and no. While I personally don’t feel a lot of drive to do furry work for my own purposes, I am more than happy to do it on a commission basis, and can provide examples of prior furry commissions I have done.

The art I want to commission is NSFW/Erotic/Lewd, are you comfortable with that?

Yes.
There is some subject matter which I will not draw, and so I will need to discuss what you want in depth before I can tell you I will absolutely do your art, however you can also check out this addendum to my TOS to see subject matter I absolutely will not draw and other boundaries I have in my art.

I would like a print or hard copy of art I’ve commissioned, do you offer that service?

Yes. I provide prints via either Redbubble or Printify- However for commissions, I will have to create a custom listing and fulfill the order for you. This step (including payment for the print) is done once the art is completed, so don’t worry about accounting for print cost when we’re first getting started.
Unlike the work portion of commissions, however, I cannot apply discounts to prints, shipping etc- as the cost is more or less set by the manufacturer/printer in question.

What is the VIP Funpass?

Similar to platforms like Patreon or Subscribestar, the VIP Funpass is a subscription program that allows my fans and followers to support me for a small amount of money every month. How much you pay is up to you, and you can stop whenever you want.

Why the VIP Funpass and not Patreon, or another platform?

Hosting the program myself gives me a lot more control over what content I can present. When I was on other platforms it took a ton of effort and upkeep, and I always felt like my reward tier content was a bit too erratic and varied to be marketable on them. On top of that, even with 18+ profiles, a lot of the NSFW art that I would do would get reported or flagged as against their TOS. I don’t have any of those concerns here.
I also take a lot of the stress that comes from HAVING to post regularly on those platforms, to remain relevant, off of myself by instead providing discounts and commission credits as tier rewards here (which isn’t nearly as feasible on those platforms due to the exorbitant fees they add to creators).

How Does the VIP Funpass Work work?

It’s pretty straightforward. Go to this page, review the tier perks to choose the one you want, then click the buttons for that tier, confirm your monthly or annual payment, and pay!
There’s a login/logout link in the upper left of every page of the website so you can log in and out from whatever page of the site you’re on, and if you ever want to cancel your membership or subscription, you just have to login.
Once you you’re logged in, this login button will change to a “Manage your Funpass Membership” button. If you click it, you will be taken to your account settings for Ash Something Art, and you can decide to cancel or change your subscription as you see fit!

Why do you offer a subscription, instead of just doing commissions or selling merch?

Well, honestly, it’s not INSTEAD of those things.
I take commissions and sell merch, both; And while the pages are currently being reconstructed, this site DOES have links for you to buy both my merch and some of my commission packages- so if you want to go that route, then by all means please do!
However, what the Funpass Membership provides is an up-front, baseline income for me. Relying entirely on commissions and merch sales is H A R D. Some months I only sell a couple of sketch commissions for $25-50 each, and other months I may land 3-5 commissions over $300 each. This leads to a lot of uncertainty, and theres a LOT of stress that comes with that.

On top of that, some of my commissions can cost well over $500, and this VIP Funpass functions as a way for those who wish to pay over time, to set up their own payment plan using the tiers provided, AND get a discount on the commission.
So really, it’s win win in a lot of ways.
You choose what you want to pay on the VIP Funpass, and you cancel when you want. You help me build myself a baseline consistent income, and everything you pay works towards the cost of a commission (Or is set aside in case you decide you want a commission later).
