Pleading for Pledges! Expansion on my Patreon Page

I wrote this out as a post so that I can directly tag or send it to the DMs of everyone on my FB friends list. For anyone following me there, I do apologize if it’s repeat information. If you get the notification, please read it all, because this is basically make or break for me!

Every time I post about this, facebook buries the post and I’m stuck feeling like I have to take drastic measures to get the word out, and so I’m taking this and posting it on every outlet that I have available to me.

So here it is:

Lately I’ve been trying more and more to let people know about my Patreon and the new updates that I’m in the process of making to it. For those of you who don’t know, I’ve been running a Patreon page off and on since 2017; And as of the last two years I’ve been posting consistently and trying to build the page as a central hub for all of my art, and as a means to have some sort of base income so I’m not just reliant on commissions (Which are incredibly sporadic) to survive.

Over the last couple months, I’ve been trying to push harder and harder to use Patreon in this way. The big changes that I’m implementing over the next couple months are a huge step towards that. and I’ll outline them a bit below.

Currently, my page has almost 200 published posts from the last few years, and any new patrons get access to every post I’ve made for their tier as far back as 2017. I’ve also scheduled the next three weeks worth of posts in advance.

As a lot of you may see, I’m constantly pushing commissions on facebook; It’s slowly becoming almost all I post about. But what you may not see is all the crazy legwork I have to do everywhere else as well.

My current business model has me spread too thin; I actively market myself and look for commissions on every website you can think of; Tumblr, instagram, facebook, deviantart, reddit, craigslist, creatively, ello, twitter, fetlife, and many MANY more. I also now have an active seller page on Redbubble, Patreon AND Etsy that I manage by myself.

Of course, I will be continuing to look for commissions in most of those locations, however what the primary changes to my Patreon will do is allow anyone who pledges $5 or more per month to essentially start building a commission credit on top of all the other awesome rewards I offer there; merch (Which will soon include monthly stickers, posters and t-shirts), behind-the-scenes and uncensored content, website credits, etc.

Patreon for me, is meant to take the place of the regular income that would come from a day job. I want to use it to cover my basic monthly necessities; Rent, bills and food, so that I can start using my direct commission work instead to expand my setup; Purchase prints of my existing artwork to sell at conventions and art shows, upgrade my now 5-years-out-of-date laptop, etc. But I can’t do any of those things until I’m able to meet rent on time consistently, which hasn’t been happening in almost 8 months.

I currently have expanded my Patreon page to the point where I have 17 patrons, and about $200 per month; Which is a lot, especially considering that those 17 patrons have been awesome, and consistent for months now. But I need a LOT more support there for me to really be able to succeed.

My current goal is to reach my first milestone of $500 per month on Patreon, with just $1-5 per pledges from awesome people like you. This won’t cover all of my needs but it will make everything SO much easier on me.

With $5 pledges, that means I need 60 more patrons to meet that goal, and I can’t just be complacent and hope that they come to me.

And so, I’m directly asking you to please consider pledging. $1, $3, $5, $10; It’s not a lot per month; Something we would all spend on a single fast food meal. But for me it helps so much more than you could imagine.

Thanks so much for reading this to the end!
